Hey y'all,

I just heard about an ausie film called "Meat Pie" that was made in Sydney, that was supposedley getting a May release. I read the first bit of the script which involved a boy working in a pie shop having sex with the mincing machine. The film stars among others Johnny Boxer from Pizza and Jo Ashton and Aphrodite from past Big Brother series. Apparantley the film has been described as the worst Aussie film ever. Just wanting to know if anyone has seen it. It could be a good warning to those of us embarking on our own features.

Yeh, it was screened at the Kino Dendy cinemas as part of MUFF (Melbourne Underground Film Festival), which by the way is still on at the moment and will wrap up this weekend. I saw it (for free luckily, no risk taking there) and I'll vouch for the title of "worst aussie film ever". If any of the crew ever read this post I apologise if I offend anyone but in my opinion it is the biggest piece of @#%$ ever.

It's basically dick, @#%$ and cum jokes for the entire length of the film. AND NONE ARE FUNNY! Jo's character has this annoying lisp (THEY ACTUALLY HAVE HER SAY "THUFFERIN THUKATASH" ALA SYLVESTER IN HER LINE WHEN THEY RUN OVER SOMETHING). I dunno wat's with the cameo BB contender appearences, Trevor from the previous series is also in there.

Most of the acting is appalling and I didn't find the story captivating at all. OK, after all this, I know I prolly sound like one of those hypocritical wankers that is annoyed at the fact that his filmmaking is going nowhere so they should take it out on every other low budget piece that receives attention that they think they shouldn't get and perhaps I'm coming on too strong but hey, that's the beauty of free speech and if I seem like one of those wankers on this post well then I guess I'll havta take the wrap for it.

With all that being said, I don't want to prevent people from seeing it, in fact I encourage people to see it. Watching all kinds of films is a learning experience (even if that might be learning what doesn't work in a film). I don't know how you could get your hands on it if you didn't catch it at MUFF. I can ask Richard, the festival director, if he knows where else people can see it if you dare.

We have to support aussie films, but your review is ummmmmmmmmm, unique ;)

And yeah, agree that no offense intended to the crew who probably did the very best job.

I read the script and you needed a bucket to get through that! - It was always going to be bad - even with a great crew.

Mind you that didn't stop me from auditioning for one of the roles (hangs head in shame) ..these here are desperate times..

How about the editing and music or other factors ? Did these make this film better?

I didn't think so. I mean the camera and editing weren't bad (at least not bad enough to be more distracting than most of the performances) but nothing special. I wouldn't say there was any foul on the camera/ editing side.
