I didn't really 'rate' the test. There were some questions where none of the multiple choice answers applied to me...but I suppose I'm missing the point (i.e. it's all a little bit of fun).

I also got 'Joseph Geobbels' as a result. I may be wrong, but last time I checked Goebbels (correct spelling) was the Nazi in charge of producing propoganda against the Jews in the 1930s and 40s. I don't know if he personally made any films, but I do remember in film studies reading about the Nazis hiring filmmakers to produce German propaganda films. I don't know, I'll have to 'wikipedia' Goebbels...I also think 'wikipedia' is slowly becoming a verb, like 'google'.

Furthermore (your honour), I suspect that maybe everyone who takes the test gets Goebbels as a result, and that maybe the test is just a way of having a go at budding young filmmakers, but that may just be the cynic in me talking. I'm probably wrong, but someone else try and see if they get a different result...I'm not going to take the test again (and it doesn't take long by the way) just to prove my self right/wrong.

Further-furthermore, I'm starting to realise I have too much time on my hands.

Thanks Nicole,

Obviously I was replying at the same time as you, so there goes my theory out the window. And I'm not taking myself too seriously, but sorry if it came across that way. Smiles and inspiration right back at you, and I hope you also have a wonderful day (no sarcasm intended).

"In here, life is beautiful. The girls are beautiful. Even the orchestra is beautiful!"

If someone gets that reference (and excuse me for doing the whole cryptic, 'I know something and you don't'), with the whole Goebbels thing, then that might make their day.

Peace Out,
Vicgrosie.

""Ed Wood
Yes, you can pick up your Mum from the Pawn Brokers when you get $50. Your film is destined to be a cult piece with late night rave parties to watch your cinematic efforts on pirated DVD. The crowd will mouth the lines of dialogue slightly out of sync, just like the actors, and laugh at the continuity errors and laugh at just the wrong moments but who cares about the mug punters? Just dont come back home till *those* people (you know the ones) have left town or forgotten about you (fat chance!).
You have used your greatest attributes of using people to complete your masterpiece, but dont spare a thought for them, as they will get their artistic rewards into the future. Far into the future. When everyone has forgotten they were ever associated with your film what was it called?
You will always remember the exhilaration of making a movie, shooting from the hip while hanging out of a taxi as your friends borrowed car side-swipes a fruit cart in the chase scene. You will smile warmly as you pass the charity shop that was the Wardrobe department, and as you pass the Supermarket rubbish bins.
You did it! You made your mark in the toughest industry in the world.
Time to visit that actress in hospital.""

This survey seems to be spot on....

An Animator gets Ed Wood;
An Actor and Actress both get Cecil B Demille
and Both writers get Joseph Goebbels !!!!!

:lmao :rotfl

It sort of explains our industry :)

This is fun :)

I am dying to draw conclusions and say a few things, but I shouldn't for fear of spoilers.

Feel free to email the link to friends in the industry and I will give you a results round-up in a few days.

So I don't mind this relationship.

Hey All,

How you all doing? After a long period of soul-searching I've come to accept my destiny as the modern day reincarnation of Joseph Goebbels in the world of scriptwriting (shared with Icequeen of course). I had a good, long, hard look at myself in the mirror and realised 'Yes. I am a bad person.' But I'm going to work on it. I'm going to change. From here on in, I'm going to be a better person. Sure my writing may still be of the anti-semitic flavour, but I'm making a resolution to be the best I can be in real life. Helping old ladies across the street, donating to charity, not spitting in food anymore when I'm working burgers at McDonald's- all that good stuff, that's for me. From here on in, you're going to see a new Vicgrosie. Just wait and see!

But anyway, just wanted to ask Mark if he made the quiz up himself?

Good job by the way.

I love you all,
Vicgrosie.

Hi,

Yeah I did write it myself (Should I run and hide? LOL )

I didnt put Joeseph Geobbles in there specifically for anti Semitism or racism, but for the way he made and defined propaganda. See www.psywarrior.com/Goebbels.html
That writers were hitting him is amazing!
I think most Australian writers want to say something. With so few films made they want their stories heard, they think their stories worthy and they are writing for a higher cause of changing opinions or reinforcing their own (perhaps unconsciously). Thats certainly my experience working for the last 5 years at Parnassus Den.
I can tell you that I never expected too many to get Goebbels. The quiz is actually weighted against him.
The reason for Geobbels to be a result in the quiz is that he changed the course of filmmaking from entertainment to something much, much darker. He did indeed direct so many movies, but he was never on a set.

The other 5 results are: Cecile B DeMille the biggest of the huge epic flicks. Funny to see actors hitting Cec! LOL Typical! :)

Ed Wood at the other end of the scale. But he achieved the impossible on absolutely nothing and entertained the masses for years. Isnt this what we are trying to achieve? Even the highest budget Aussie flick needs some Ed Wood tricks. So it was heartening to see Celeron an animator, and a director getting him. I feel an animators life must be the most difficult in the industry.
I remember the bit in the Ed Wood film where a Vampire needs help getting out of a grave and 2 actors dressed as modern police run on the medieval set and help. He used it in the final edit. Silly as that was, it meant that Ed Wood was shooting 2 films at once!

The other 3 directors are Australian: The Biggest and Best, The Most Commercially Sucessful, and the Most Sucessful ArtHouse. Opinios, of course.

Charles Chauvel put Australia into film from 40,000 Horsemen, Rats of Tubruk (a propaganda film!) through to Jedda. He started acting in Robbery Under Arms in 1920. His films were the biggest and best. Its a crying shame the cinema in Sydney that bares his name is dark. But its a larger shame that so few in the industry now know his name.

DR George Miller has given us the films that have made the cash registers tinkle, Mad Max through Babe. His films fill me with wonder in some and the grit of post appocolyse in others. His new film staring a penguin WILL be good.

Rolf De Heer. Bad Boy Bubby through The Tracker and now 10 Canoes. While the rest of us procrastinate he gets out and makes the unmakable and gets them in front of a select audience. His writing credits are exactly the same as his directing credits which are exactly the same as his producing credits... All his films are: Written, Produced and Directed by Rold De Heer. His CV screams: Get off your arse and do it yourself!

A few of the Aussies have been hit, but I am amazed not more, especially Chauvel and Miller.

So this quiz was written for fun, but with some substance in the thought. Some of the answer options are just fun. Most have a serious intent behind the giggle.
Unfortunately I cant see what people answer, but I can see the result stats. This game have given me lots to chew over. Why have Miller and Chauvel been hit so few times? Why Goebbles? Ve have vays of making you enjoy yourself. Or you will be shot!

All the directors have been successful. There are many different paths in this industry.

I hope I have given you a few moments fun :)

Mark

You are like Charles Chauvel
Big. Your films are as big as the great outdoors of Australia. Every detail is attended to, down to the huge quantities of Arogarde packed for your distant location shoot. Your films feature horses, hundreds of them, earthy colours, and wide landscapes. So wide you have special lenses made to fit it all in. You brief cast and crew around a campfire (usually artificial). If you shoot in the city you dont block of a street, you block off the whole CBD.

Well one of us had to be an Aussie director! :wahoo

(Even if I am only an Aussie screenwriter) 8o 8o 8o 8o

Chers, Glen.
