Hey Guys

Does anyone know where I can get a showreel done. I have cut the video, I just need the DVD Case, and CD Label and DVD Inside Cover. If anyone knows anyone who can do it professionally I'm happy to pay.

Contact me at will@wjmoore.com or answer on the forum

Willy,

I go to the computer stall in South Melbourne market... good range of empty cases ... there is a really nice black slim case ... 10 for like 5 dollars.

They also have the labels that stick right onto the DVD ... I prefer to get the printable discs ... if you're doing quite a few, I'd consider getting one of those ink jet printers. Otherwise, get the labels that are two up on and A4 sheet and just print them on any printer ... the image doesn't even have to be round ... it can just bleed.

Print your slick on any printer using MS Word and tables set for landscape. I think two of the columns are 13cms ad one in the middle is 8mm ... that's for the slim cases. JUst make the columns invisible and you can drop in photos, change the direction of the type, etc.

It can be a very professional job done at home. Believe me.

Cheers,

RB

Just hand out a disc with you name on it written in pen. The disc will be inserted in a plastic sleeve with a teeneyweeny little panflit about yourself and your work.

Trust me its better than the fancy dvd case thing. Its like when a producer picks up a script, if it has a fancy cover, odds are hes going to put it straight down again.

A disc in a disc size sleeve(a transparent one if you want to get fancy) will fit in most pockets. a big ass dvd case will not.

I am now a convert to the sticky ones that go through a normal printer and you apply to the DVD with a little plastic centering device.
It does look nice and professional.

We buy DVD / CD boxes at $2 shops and you don't need a printed cover if it is clear plastic and the DVD/CD itself is nicely printed. :)

Last year I bought a Canon IP520 printer which prints directly to DVDs. It was only $250 back then so you can no doubt get cheaper now. It's awesome!

Hey All,

Filmlovers, I've about had it up to here with you and your sarcasm...(kneels down, hands shielding face) please don't 'edit' me.

Anyways, re: sticking labels on DVDs. I've never tried myself, but has anyone ever had problems with the sticker peeling off and/or buggering up your DVD player?

Vicgrosie.

Dear RichVic, ;)

You don't just splatter a sticker on it from 10 meters. You need a dinky little plastic gismo from OfficeWorld that costs $30! and comes with the sheets of stickers.

But I agree with you, crook labels on a DVD zipping round at 7,200 rpms will damage the player.
