"Up the Aisle" is a wacky romantic comedy, a sort of mash between 'Eagle vs Shark'; 'Meet the Parents' and 'Four Weddings & a Funeral'.

This is a fantastic script and we already have an outstanding crew on board.

The film is currently unpaid, but all cast will be on MEAA approved deferral contracts.

SUPPORTING ROLES

1) Bronte Avalon Pymble

Female
Late 20's - Early 30's
Caucasian, long blonde hair, tanned, well preened and gorgeous.

Character Description:

Bronte is Bexley's big sister. She is a beautiful bikini model, and is determined, cold and calculating. She may have been born and raised in Sydney's western suburbs but she is a classic Eastern Suburbs Princess. The only difference between herself and most Eastern Suburbs Princess' is that Bronte did it all herself. From elocution lessons to getting a business degree, all while building a very successful modeling career.
Bronte bullied Bexley her entire life, and cajoled her into submission and rightful place as second born from an early age.
Bronte would go on in adult life to use the tricks she learnt conquering Bexley, to manipulate, bully and backstab her way to the top of the modeling profession.
Bronte is a complicated and contradictory character. On the one hand she seems shallow, mercenary and materialistic and on the other hand she has very strong loyalty to her family.
Bronte's depth of character is never more obvious than when it comes to looking after her little sister. Bronte is fiercely protective of her. Bexley has always been a weird little day dreamer and Bronte has had to stick up for her on numerous occasions. Bexley may be a source of embarrassment but no one else can say anything derogatory towards Bexley without suffering the wrath of Bronte.

2) James Ngatai

Male
25 - 45 years,
Well built & of Maori/Islander Appearance.
Must be able to do a kiwi accent & some experience in stage combat or martial arts a bonus

Character Description:

James is Kevin's best mate. They live together, and James takes care of him. James is quiet, unassuming, loyal and trustworthy. He works as a bouncer at a pub, and during the day he studies business, with the intent to set up his own security firm. He is however, too cautious, and never quite takes that leap.
James' opposite in life is Kevin. Kevin is a dole bludger and happy to stay that way. Kevin leaps into anything and has no thought for consequences or the future.
Kevin is a constant annoyance in James' life.
His challenge is to save Kevin and get him to the wedding. He will overcome Gary, first physically but more importantly by winning him over sharing his innermost fears about entering the world of small business. In Gary he will find a mentor/partner and catalyst to finally push him into action.


3) Gary

40's - 50's
Any nationality, unfit & overweight

Character Description:

Sleazy, craggy and wizened by many years of hard living. He carries a chip on his shoulder and doesn't even know why.
Gary is a former corrupt cop turned private investigator/freelance thug.
Gary is still well connected in the NSW Police Force. He has dirt on people in high places. That's how he avoided charges.
He has a gambling problem and has never got any money. His addiction has always made him vulnerable to the temptation of cash. There's nothing he won't do for money.
Over the years he and Istvan's paths crossed and Istvan has used him from time to time to resolve problems he's had in his dodgy dealings.

4) Pete Pymble

Character Description:

Pete is physically imposing and yet gentle, softly spoken and very Aussie. He is in his 50s and runs his own successful construction firm. He is a very hands on boss who works side by side with his crew mixing concrete and laying blocks. He is married to the beautiful Sharon, a nurse. Whom after 27 years of marriage he is still very much in love with. They have two adult daughters, Bronte and Bexley

5) Sharon Pymble

Mid 40's - Early 50's
Caucasian

Character Description:

Sharon is attractive, smart and charming. She is a nurse and has been married to a builder, Pete for 27 years and they are still very much in love. They have two daughters. Bronte, a successful swimsuit model and Bexley who at 25 has no job, no education and still lives at home.
Sharon loves both her daughters equally but Bronte has always been able to draw all attention to herself, at the expense of Bexley.
Sharon relishes the opportunity to get behind Bexley. She will use her intelligence and charm to guide Bexley through her many obstacles and keep the wedding on track when all seems lost. Sharon is the matriarch and lynch pin of the Pymble family. She is a quiet manipulator and no one ever realizes she's in charge.


6) Pamela Lloyd

30's - 50's

Very large & voluptuous

Character Description:

Pamela Lloyd is marriage celebrant. She has been married three times, but still loves a good wedding.
She is a hopeless romantic who reads Mills & Boon and carries a photo of Fabio in her purse.
Her own love life has been nothing but rocky. She has a terrible habit of always ending up with the wrong guy. Unfortunately she is blind to her own culpability in her relationship choices. She has an unrealistic Hollywood dream of marriage and is looking for Prince Charming.
She delights in treats and the only constant in her life is her pet poodle Mitzy.

7) Constable Nick

20's - 40's
Any nationality

Character Description:

Nick is a cop, hardened by years on the beat in Kings Cross. He works under Sgt Godfrey, and together they volunteer at primary schools as road safety officers. This is something that gives them much satisfaction. In fact they get more joy from this than normal police work. They really feel they are helping the community and doing some good, as opposed to their other police duties which sees them arresting the same people for the same crimes over and over.
Nick & Godfrey do however share a somewhat kinky fetish. They enjoy dressing in drag and going out at night like street-walkers. It is their way of escaping from the rigors of police work. They are not gay and have no feminine qualities to speak off. They just enjoy the naughtiness of it all and find it is the only way to really let their hair down.

8 ) Nan

Female
70's +
Caucasian

Character Description:

Nan has lived a happy life. She raised a wonderful daughter Sharon who in turn raised two beautiful daughters, Bronte and Bexley.
Nan has always been a tough old bird. She was happily married for 50 years to a hard working caring man who gave her all that he could.
She was always a very hands on grandmother babysitting her grandchildren every chance she had.
While the passing of her husband was difficult to deal with in typical fashion this tough old bird pushed on through it by throwing herself into activities and became an enthusiastic senior citizen with an active social calendar.
Nan has always had her concerns about Bexley and has done all she can through life to encourage and support her.
Nan is without a doubt the family matriarch and a quiet manipulator. A skill she has passed on to her daughter Sharon.
