wanted to ask Mark if he made the quiz up himself?

Hi,

Yeah I did write it myself (Should I run and hide? LOL )

I didnt put Joeseph Geobbles in there specifically for anti Semitism or racism, but for the way he made and defined propaganda. See www.psywarrior.com/Goebbels.html
That writers were hitting him is amazing!
I think most Australian writers want to say something. With so few films made they want their stories heard, they think their stories worthy and they are writing for a higher cause of changing opinions or reinforcing their own (perhaps unconsciously). Thats certainly my experience working for the last 5 years at Parnassus Den.
I can tell you that I never expected too many to get Goebbels. The quiz is actually weighted against him.
The reason for Geobbels to be a result in the quiz is that he changed the course of filmmaking from entertainment to something much, much darker. He did indeed direct so many movies, but he was never on a set.

The other 5 results are: Cecile B DeMille the biggest of the huge epic flicks. Funny to see actors hitting Cec! LOL Typical! :)

Ed Wood at the other end of the scale. But he achieved the impossible on absolutely nothing and entertained the masses for years. Isnt this what we are trying to achieve? Even the highest budget Aussie flick needs some Ed Wood tricks. So it was heartening to see Celeron an animator, and a director getting him. I feel an animators life must be the most difficult in the industry.
I remember the bit in the Ed Wood film where a Vampire needs help getting out of a grave and 2 actors dressed as modern police run on the medieval set and help. He used it in the final edit. Silly as that was, it meant that Ed Wood was shooting 2 films at once!

The other 3 directors are Australian: The Biggest and Best, The Most Commercially Sucessful, and the Most Sucessful ArtHouse. Opinios, of course.

Charles Chauvel put Australia into film from 40,000 Horsemen, Rats of Tubruk (a propaganda film!) through to Jedda. He started acting in Robbery Under Arms in 1920. His films were the biggest and best. Its a crying shame the cinema in Sydney that bares his name is dark. But its a larger shame that so few in the industry now know his name.

DR George Miller has given us the films that have made the cash registers tinkle, Mad Max through Babe. His films fill me with wonder in some and the grit of post appocolyse in others. His new film staring a penguin WILL be good.

Rolf De Heer. Bad Boy Bubby through The Tracker and now 10 Canoes. While the rest of us procrastinate he gets out and makes the unmakable and gets them in front of a select audience. His writing credits are exactly the same as his directing credits which are exactly the same as his producing credits... All his films are: Written, Produced and Directed by Rold De Heer. His CV screams: Get off your arse and do it yourself!

A few of the Aussies have been hit, but I am amazed not more, especially Chauvel and Miller.

So this quiz was written for fun, but with some substance in the thought. Some of the answer options are just fun. Most have a serious intent behind the giggle.
Unfortunately I cant see what people answer, but I can see the result stats. This game have given me lots to chew over. Why have Miller and Chauvel been hit so few times? Why Goebbles? Ve have vays of making you enjoy yourself. Or you will be shot!

All the directors have been successful. There are many different paths in this industry.

I hope I have given you a few moments fun :)

Mark
